anysia: (Introspection)
It varied from a down pour to showers, but it did rain most of the day. It made both Loki and Ziggy a bit clingy. Keito, the old man, decided to sleep through it all.

During one of the breaks in the weather, I went outside armed with camera, lens with polarizer on it, hoping to photograph a rainbow. Instead I found raindrops.

anysia: (WTF??!!)
Had a deluge first thing this morning. I went out to bring the birds under the pergola only to see water pouring over the bedroom window. Turns out it was on the inside of the window. I toss a box of books onto the bed, preventing them from getting soaked. Just the bottom of the box was wet, books fine. I tell Wing to bring me a towel. He brings me the smallest one in the bathroom. I raised my voice. "Get me a damned towel!" expecting him to get me the thick terry cloth bath sheet.. again a small towel! I push past him, grab my terry cloth bathrobe and shove it onto the windowsill, staunching the flow, and soaking up what was there.

I managed to get a few photos of the streaming water, and sent them to Mark at Hire a Hubby. He came right over, weather be damned! Turned out that one of the downpipes, even though it looked ok from the top, it was rotted underneath, so any water going in there was just flooding under the eaves. It's been fixed. Chances are we will be replacing other downpipes en masse so we don't have to do it piecemeal. They are 25+ yrs old, and have served well.

Water also came into the guest bathroom, and the gyprock is sagging. That repair we can claim back on homeowners insurance.

Aikidomayland wanted to so some photography in Fremantle. He has this idea about the cranes and derricks and wants to get a specific photograph. As luck would have it we found the perfect place for him to take the photo, but it started raining. I did, however, manage to get a snap of a dolphin in the harbor.

Probably would have gotten a better one if the cabin cruiser hadn't come barreling through, causing the critter to sound. Since it was raining, we didn't wait around for another try.

I'm cold

With the heavy rain, the debris from tree removal was clogging the drains. I have spent the past hour slogging around back and forth in ankle deep cold water clearing the drain grills.

Cold now. *shiver*

Thank the heavens it's raining! Temperature is at least 20f cooler than it has been. The orange tree is already recovering from the 'summer droop'. and even overnight the other plants are looking greener. I think the lavender has grown!

The wind and weather has kicked in again. I knew the gum tree out front was flexible, but I didn't know it was that flexible!

anysia: (Dark Moon Goddess)
A deafening clap of thunder in a clear sky, loud enough to rattle the house and make the cats dive though the pet door to under a bed. Another one, then gentle rain.

Here's hoping it cools thing down a bit.

It's rainy weather, and I felt it before it actually got here. Ugh. The skies are that yucky greenish orange color of more rain to come. *ache throb throb throb* Can't be any time too soon for me. *sigh*
anysia: (Scrying)
Only one night, the night I had plans, this past 10 days has been clear for skywatching.  *sigh* Missed the conjunction, and the sliver moon with Venus and Jupiter because of cloudy/rainy nights.
anysia: (Scrying)
Just checked the night skies. Heavy clouds, and light drizzle.  *sigh* Telescope stays in tonight.

This is most irksome.  I get a good telescope, a great mount with motor drives, and look what happens at a conjunction... rain, rain, clouds and more rain.  *again sigh*
