This morning I saw sparkling water drops on some pretty purple blossoms, and I noticed both my small Geraldton Wax seedlings (still called seedlings until they reach 1" across the base) were in danger of being swamped by weeds.

I pushed the camera out of the way, pulled the weeds out about 2ft diameter around them both, making sure to not shake off the morning water droplets. I then proceeded to take macro photos of the blossoms. I stood up from my squat, and it was all I could do to hobble back into the house.

I know, I know... we are supposed to suffer for our art, but dayam, my knee was killing me! Nope, no doubt now.

Wing brought us up to Hyde Park to do some macro photography. I brought my extension rings so I could get some really up close images. )

Over all, quite pleased with the results. Next time, I will bring a monopod for a bit fewer bungles. The slightest movement by me would end up with an out of focus image.

It varied from a down pour to showers, but it did rain most of the day. It made both Loki and Ziggy a bit clingy. Keito, the old man, decided to sleep through it all.

During one of the breaks in the weather, I went outside armed with camera, lens with polarizer on it, hoping to photograph a rainbow. Instead I found raindrops.

Almost 6 yrs ago, when Wing got my the Lumix DMC-FZ30. I got some magnifying close up lens filters, to use for close up/macro photography. I got a Phoenix Macro Flash ring (more on this later) and started taking photos. Some of my favorite ones were close ups of my geode, beads and weaving, and and metal with beadwork..

Then I 'graduated' to a Canon. My problem was the Phoenix flash ring didn't fit on any of the Canon lenses, and I couldn't find adapters for the Phoenix flash ring. I did an inexpensive flash ring, but it gave me 'meh' results. Not bad, just not what I wanted.

So, last year, I got a Metz Flash ring. I could use it with my 7D because there was an onboard flash on the camera, but I couldn't use it with my 5D. So, after months of searching for a way to use it on my 5D without having to use an external flash, I went to Camera Electronic and explained the problem. They fabricated a flash sync cord for the 5D to use the Metz flash ring. And I have been having a blast rephotographing my zoisite, amethyst shaft, and rose quartz sphere.

I spotted our rose colored salt lamp, and after turning it around, got a great photo of it.

Next, I think I might try salt crystals, or sugar! :D

While trying to get my bratty cat to come in, I spotted this moth on the sliding glass door. Back lit by my kitchen, and a bit spooked by my proximity, the moth would not stop flailing his antennae.
