Hey Ubisoft, THPPPPT! :D
Dec. 30th, 2013 07:41 amYour take down notice dismissed, my photo work doesn't violate your I.P. You don't own word Assassin. You never did and chances are you never will. You had no business issuing a take down notice. My photography work has been reinstated by RedBubble because:
1: My images predate your game.
2: My images aren't derivative of you game, and they predate your game.
3: UBISOFT doesn't own the copyright to the words/phrase "Assassin's Guild Meeting".
The vindictive part of me would really like to go after you in a legal sense, but you want to know something? I was right, you, UBISOFT, were wrong, and I made sure via Blogs, Twitter, Facebook and other social media that others knew what you did.
Oh yes, with me being a docu-rat, I have all the information should you try this bullshit on me again, or someone else.
So, have a nice.... No, don't have a nice day. I'm not feeling that charitable towards you, as I'm sure I won't even get a form letter apology from you, so you can just suck it.

I waited 15 days, not 14.
Dec. 28th, 2013 09:35 amMy message to RedBubble regarding UBISOFT's claim that my photographs, the ones that predate their game, violated THEIR Intellectual Property.
As you can see, it has been 15 days, not 14 days, and I haven't had any legal action taken against me for my photos. Nor have I taken action against UBISOFT.
I have given you (and Ubisoft) more than ample evidence that:
1: My images predate their game.
2: My images aren't derivative of their game.
3: UBISOFT doesn't own the copyright to the words/phrase "Assassin's Guild Meeting".
Please reinstate my images forthwith.
Regards
Sandra Chung

Me vs Ubisoft - 8 Days down, 6 to go
Dec. 20th, 2013 11:42 am"Assassin's Guild Meeting" photo series.

It's a case of no news is good news. They have 6 more days to bring legal charges against me.
Ubisoft filed IP/Copyright infringement, saying Assassin's Guild Meeting photo series is the same as their video game "Assassin's Creed", and issued a take down demand. (why is it I'm assumed guilty and have to prove my innocence?). I filed counter with enough evidence to choke a horse that their claims were not valid. So, I have to wait the requisite 14 days for them to file legal charges of IP Infringement. If they actually do that, I have a strong case against them.

WTF to the max!
Dec. 7th, 2013 04:37 pmI got this from Redbubble after having these photos, that I took in 2007, on their site were taken down because of IP violation. Huh?
Dear Sandra,

I'm the only one who has the rights to these images. I never signed my rights over, I am the photographer, it was my camera. I even own the objects IN the photos. I have sent a counter claim, attached scaled down versions of the images with the EXIF data still intact with a "please explain". I want to know who made the complaint.

Yay! Only took a week
Sep. 30th, 2012 11:31 pmGot through both Wing 's and my photos of the wedding. The biggest problem I had was keeping them in order. Turns out that Wing didn't have the time or date set right on either of the cameras he was using. Imagine how much fun I had going through and fixing that. Want the photos to tell a story, and also want it to be easier for the person making the photobook to put them in sequence.
I also impressed with with my "Mad Editing Skillz!". I don't mean "Photoshopping' as in smoothing skin, making men more muscular or thinner, or that, but seamless edits. One of the children at the wedding (as well as a few others) had hay fever and her nose kept running. So, I had to umm tidy that one up. Also, for some odd reason, Wing took the practice shot of an archway (with me in it describing to people how to stand to face Wing) perfectly, but when it came to the family portrait shots in there, he kept lopping off the top of the arch. Well, all the family portrait shots are in a nice arch. There were other things.
So, then I sat back and loaded them up as a slide show. I cast a very critical eye on them. Wow... impressive. Wing did question a few of my choices concerning his photos, until he saw that the ones that he thought were ok were blurry, or had a very unflattering look on one or more of the peoples faces.
Total count: 156 photos.
Note to self, ask Bob for some of his photos for the bride and groom. :)

Wading through a backlog of photos
Apr. 30th, 2012 09:56 pmCanon Island, DoomCon, WAPF... for the past month I have been going at full tilt. I have a huge library of photos that I needed to start working on, sorting, deleting, processing, etc. Been at it most of the day with small breaks here and there. Done for now, but will pick it up where I left off. Have made a slight dent in the processing backlog, but have so much more to get done.
Maybe I should hide the camera batteries so I stop taking photos of subjects that catch my eye... nah!

he's back in the saddle again
Apr. 3rd, 2012 11:49 amThat means Wing is going back to the dojo tonight. I can only imagine how stiff and sore he is going to be tomorrow morning. It's been three months since his last training session, as he had knee surgery. Then he goofed a few times, making the knee very sore, setting himself back a few weeks. Also, I made him wait until we came back from Hamilton Island. Last thing I wanted was to having him limping around.
On an aside, I did manage to catch the cold Wing had. At least the worst of it waited until I got home. Silver lining and all that. :)
Have about 100 photos of "Canon Island" up on Flickr set "Canon Island 2012"
Still have the videos to go through. Fun fun!
Good news is I did manage to get a room at the Pan Pacific for "DoomCon". Not at SwanCon block rates, as I wasn't planning on taking a room until last week. Negotiated good rates though, seeing as Wing won't be there every night.

Grateful for the small things
Apr. 1st, 2012 04:20 pmWhat I'm grateful for is that the cold I caught from Wing really didn't hit me until after we got home from Hamilton Island.
Been going through the photos taken while on the island. Culling those that are duplicates or near duplicates, ones where the speedlite hadn't cycled, and ones I just don't like, or didn't come out as I had hoped, and I still have close to 100 'good ones'. And I still haven't gone through them all yet, but I did upload about 80 of them to my Flickr account. Go me. Now, me go nap. Zzzzzzzz
