Listening to the Voices in My Head

Was a helluva lot of fun. The roasted chicken was much appreciated, and what everyone else brought was yummy. Kudos to Japester and Sarah for the lovely fresh fruit. It went down a treat.

I surprised myself. I refused to quit, or just give up (seems to be my motto lately). Yes, I was exhausted, yes, walking was getting to more and more of a chore, but I didn't quit. And I ended up being the winner of "Last Archer Standing" (starting at 20 yrds, and then move back 5 yards with every round. 6 arrows. As long as you get at least one arrow in the target face, you keep going. None, you are out.) by ONE arrow at 55 (or was it 60) yards.! I also 'Robin Hooded" one of my arrows in a rather unique way. Stripped two fletches off, and the arrow continued down until it hit the shafte again.

Only irksome thing is the SCA sent us the wrong membership cards. I have the scanned filled out forms here, so I will resend them , and hopefully they will send the right ones soon.

Blew off the archery club competition. I have no desire to be 'rated' within the club. If other want it, fine, but for me the archery is me improving my skills, not some sort of pecker contest among club members.

Went to SCA archery event instead. Was much fun, met up with many good friends. Note to self, do not take aikidomayland's word for it that he has packed all things necessary for said event no matter how exhausted I am.

Got to discuss photography in depth with madradish. Will do that again soon, when she comes back to Perth next month. Have also promised her pumpkin pie (aikidomayland was supposed to pack one, but read above paragraph.)

Tried to rest when we got home, but Loki was having no part of that. He can be most insistent.

Went to SCA "Siege Engine Event". Had two trebuchets and several archers (aikidomayland and myself included) Got to schmooze with the Baron and Baroness..AND I met up with an SCA dance mistress who will be willing to bring music and teach dances for the masquerade! Some tricky dances early for the more enthusiastic, and teach simple ones during the masquerade. (Hey my SwanCon friends/cohorts, it's a darned good thing I have APRA licence. :D ) Next step, getting the decorations for the night.

Back to the archery, I did pretty good, but I am so used to shooting at the FETA targets ( targets up on A-Frames) and shooting at the propped-on-the-ground targets was really tricky. I must boast a bit, I got the best shooting scores at 40 yards. Really stunk at the 30 yd, and did ok at the 20.

Even with sunscreen and widebrimmed straw hat I managed to get a bit of sunburn. Mostly on my hands (thats what I get for being neat and tidy washing the dirt along with the sunscreen off my hands)

Came home, showered, rested up a bit, and took JinHee out to dinner. Walked around Perth and Northbridge. JinHee brought me Honey Maid Graham crackers from Canada. Must make cheesecake. :9
