Why oh why does everything smack/slam into my shin?

Three weeks ago, I slammed my left shin into a heavy planter. It was properly iced, leg propped, took care of it. The point of impact area, about 3 inches wide, 3/4 in high, is still tender and sore, and every #%@$(*&$ thing in the universe keeps banging into it. Loki head butting it, Keito rubbing against it, me forgetting and crossing my leg over it, cabinet door open a fraction of an inch, Wing putting his leg over mine, or kicking me with his heel at night, etc etc.

Plastic laundry basket fell from top of the washing machine, and landed exactly onto the sore area. Sharp radiating pain that had me swearing a blue streak.

Sometimes, those solar charged lawn lights don't got the distance. Sometimes they shut off but not because the battery charged went flat.

We have two solar powered floods aimed at the front door. Typically, I walk up to them at night, use my small flashlight on the solar panels for about a second, and they come back on and stay one for a few hours.

I did this, as usual, but forgot I had moved a large, recently emptied planter. I turned around, and walked smack into it, bashing my left shin very hard. Lost balance, executed a pirouette a ballerina would have been proud to see, regained balance, and walked to the door to go in.

Only thing that ran through my head is "please, no bleeding" because as hard has I hit it, I didn't really feel it because of nerve damage. Got into the house, checked the shin, and Hooo doggie did I do a helluva hit, but no blood.

Alan saw it and said "Holy shit." , went to the freezer and got a bag of frozen pea, wrapped in a towel, then got foot stool, and I applied the improvised icepack. Kept bruising to minimum.

Left hip is a bit sore this morning, though, so probably gave it a helluva wrench last night.

While doing something for me, Alan stubbed his toe hard, tripped and sliced the ball of his left foot, like paring an orange peel, about 2cms long, 1cm wide about 1/4 cm deep.

He came in, I immediately got clean wet cloth, Bactine, normal sailine, and the first aid kit. Cleaned around the wound with the wet cloth, flushed the wound with the saline, making sure to get any and all particulates and dirt out of it. The came the Bactine to disinfect and relieve pain. Then put a sterile dressing on it, pressing the section of skin back into the divit. Then wrapped the foot with sterile gauze wrap, pinned it into place, then placed a dirt proof/water proof dressing over the area of the wound only to prevent dirt from working its way through the gauze.

It took me less than 3 minutes to get everything done. Fed him a few ibuprofen, because I know it's going to start throbbing pretty soon. Will keep an eye on it for any swelling or redness not associated with the wounding aka red lines or infection.

Yes, I have made first aid skillz. And I need a new bottle of Bactine

Wing visited the GP today. After an exam, an MRI was scheduled. Doc suspects rotator cuff damage.

We are hoping that it's not so bad he will be needing surgery, but my biggest worry is Wing's stubbornness when it comes to giving ample time for healing. The elbow he tore the ligament on a few years ago is bothering him now because he didn't give it the full 6 weeks before going back to aikido training. So, even if this doesn't need surgery, he will probably do the same thing and end up with chronic pain because of not allowing it to fully heal.

Umm, ow?

A bit tender right under the sternum. Hogsbreath 'mascot' stabbed me with nerf like sword, right on very tender spot. He thought my folding over was playing along until he clued to the fact everyone around him were gasping. Then I leaned in and told him. He couldn't apologise enough. I told him it wasn't his fault, he didn't know.

At 5 am this morning Loki decided to leap onto the bed, claws fully extended... and miss. His solution, dig claws into what ever was handy (or in this case footy? pad pun)

I now have 4 deep yet narrow gouges in the bottom of my foot. I don't mean scratches, I mean gouges. Two on the big toe, two just below it on the ball of the foot, and a shallow scratch. Yup, all 5 claws accounted for.

I don't think he quite used up another of his 9 lives.... but I was considering it.

Didn't mention it yesterday, as I figured people were tired of hearing of my 'Loki woes'.

Loki was holding his leg up off the floor, and hopping around three legged. :/ I have no clue what happened. He was sleeping on the futon, got up, and was lame.

I personally think the sudden cold wet weather, and the seroma was causing him some misery. That and his leaping on the door in protest of being locked up in one room. He also hadn't finished his 'medicated with anti-inflammatory yogurt. Which might have contributed. I kept him in the pet carrier most of the day yesterday.

He seems to be back to his healing self. The seroma has even gone down.

The first two pics courtesy of Loki's vet, Doctor Michael Miller.

Now I know a lot of people scam money on the net, but I am not asking for donations. I am just offering Cards, laminated prints, etc and all proceeds will go to his vet bill. (my heart felt thanks to who got "Is this how they get fluffy? and "Alert".)

And South Street Vet Clinic said Loki will be their next featured "Case of the Month". They also don't mind answering emails concerning him.
