Actually, the past few nights have been late lights, and early risings, but last night was great.

The Eagles played at the NIB Stadium. Some slightly silly person asked me why would I bother to go 'see oldies play and not Justin Beiber?' (insert gagging noises). I answered with one word.. "Talent".

40 yrs, and they are even better musicians, singers, performers, artists now than they were when I first saw them.

Here's some great photos taken by both me and Aikidomayland with our little point and shoots.

It was an amazing night. There were a few 'Grinches' in the audience, but we ignored them. :)

I will say this again, should they come around Perth again, I will go.

Title says it all! Got some pics of the concert. Had to use old Pentax, as getting my Lumix in would have been.. difficult. So, sorry about the graininess!

These guys still rock the house. They opened with MONDAY MORNING, and closed with SILVER SPRING.

rocking the house! )

Sorry, no pics of the players, as it was advised NO CAMERAS. Now if I had a small camera, I might have tried to get one.

Once again TaikOZ 'rawked the house'! Then enthralled, energized, transported and delighted the audience. New music numbers with the same great level of talented musicians. Their opening number had the audience gobsmacked with their 'stick work' and musicality. The timing couldn't have been more precise, and perfect.

One of their pieces, "Sand", hypnotised the audience. No joke. From the first opening notes from the small triangles and gongs, adding the pure clear note from the flute had the audience holding their breaths. At the end, when the lights dimmed down, with the bowls still being brushed, and their sound still pulsing through the concert hall, the room went black. It was a full 15 seconds before anyone in the audience moved. Then, thunderous applause.

It was amazing. I chatted up Riley and Ian, and have asked them to not wait 3 years before visiting Perth again. Have their new CD. Plan to annoy the "Neighbors of the Barking Dog" with some great bass line.

except for the crappy sound system and the venue

I know that sounds redundant (how can it be good if those were bad). The band made up for it by encores, and pure energetic concert. They RAWKED the house!

They took my camera at the door and made me check it in. Walked into Challenge Stadium, only to find out the tickets, which when purchasd was given a row and seat number, were SRO tickets. Excuse me??? Imagine if you will, me standing (or is that trying to stand) on a concrete floor for 3+ hours. Not... Happy... Jan! So, after threatening to moon them to show surgical scar as to reason I can't stand for three or more hours, I was given a chair, along with a few others who had gotten their tickets with Seat and Row #s, only to find out they are standing. I had a clear view of the stage, no heads in the way at all!

Remember they made me check my camera in at the door? I almost had Retina Flash Burns from cameral flash after camera flash. You should have seen the cameraphones! could have lit the place up with them.

After being almost blinded by camera flashes all over the place, I thought it was highly unfair, so went and got mine. I slipped out on pretext of "my earsarekillingme'. Tweetybird marched to the claim area Got camera case, put on UNDER my coat, and walked back in.

Took 24 pics, only about 16/18 are really any good.

So, Michael Hutchence..RIP you are missed, but INXS goes on.

I will be making a gallery of photographs, but here are 7 shots, scaled down for easy viewing even with dial up.

At the end of the concert, they promised to come back. Good bunch of mostly Perth Boys. :D

They aren't the best pictures, but here they are. TAO - The Martial Art of Noise  )

Don't get me wrong, I loved the TaikOz concert, but these guys were better. Might have had something to do with TaikOz had to share the stage with the WASO, so we didn't get to see the full scope of their abilities.

I really loved (almost fell out of my seat laughing) when they did a Haka to taiko drums.. twice!

The concert was truly amazing. The music was alive, the flutes, the horns and the drums, and the drummers. Wow.
