For weeks, I had been using Trillian Jabber for LJTalk, without a hitch. Also installed Gizmo for giggles. Both showed who was online, and correctly echoed my online status on my profile page.

Suddenly, I notice that when I connect with Trillian to LJTalk, peoples online status shows for a brief moment, then they all drop offline, and profile page says I am offline. If I use Gizmo, it connects, shows no one online, and again incorrectly echoes my online status.

So, after doing all the techie stuff I know how, and reading, bite the bullet and email LJ Support. I think they sometimes read the requests in "Cliff Note" fashion. (not reading it all, just parts)

"The past few days though, I have noticed when I log on , I see who isonline for a nanosecond, and then it goes 'offline' and my online status on details page says I am not online. The lack of correct online status happens even when I am using Gizmo, and no, it's not being blocked by firewall or anti virus. Those haven't been changed in the past week, so it wouldn't be affecting Jabber.exe or Gizmo."

I clearly state I am using BOTH protocols, and experiencing problems with them both. What was the brilliant reply to my problem?

"LiveJournal can only provide support for its own end of the LJ Talk services*. For assistance with the client you are using, you may wish to contact that client's help department."

*Gizmo *is* the'official' LJ Talk client.

Now I know I am not the only person asking for help, but geeze, if you are going to add your 2 cents, at least read the ENTIRE support request?
