Just about ready
Jun. 28th, 2006 07:42 amI am all ready to head off to the pool for some much needed unlocking/unkinking of body parts. Just hope the pool isn't too cool again. That just makes everything seize up.
Then off to home, to try to wash all the chlorine stink off of me, so I can dash out for optometrist appointment. Need to figure out how to insert extra time in the day. Let you know how I managed with that.

New glasses on their way
Jun. 28th, 2006 12:50 pmTurns out it wasn't my imagination, my glasses were not correct 'script.... again. People, no matter how much they go on about how much you save at Just Spectacles, GO ELSEWHERE!
New ones will be distance/progressive/transitional. So, I will have distance glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses all in one frame. Also getting refill on contacts. Turns out the stigmatism in the right eye has changed axis again. Probably due to the eye problems I had last year.

I read a post by someone on my F-list
Jun. 28th, 2006 05:39 pmAbout the value of 'shaming', and that maybe society has gotten too soft on people who break the law, or just do something despicable. Case in point, the saga of the Stolen Sidekick, and this attempt to complain about COMCAST for their crappy service with the Sleeping Comcast Technician. Poor Techie was left on hold for over an HOUR and he ended up falling asleep with the phone still against his ear, with the "your call is important" recorded message probably still playing in his ear. The guy who thought it would be a hoot to post this vid clip didn't think past being famous for a nano, well shame on him, because the tech got fired.
I have to agree that there is intrinsic value in shaming of a wrong doer. Don't give me that fluffy bunny rhetoric about bruising their ego or psyche. The wrong doer should have thought of that prior to doing a bad deed. I have publically shamed a few people in the past, and a few on my F-list who knew me way back when I was still living in the US probably has some recollection of it. Funny thing is, I am still around, but the persons called on their actions, shamed... well they have rather disappeared, hence is the way with the dishonest when publicly exposed.
I don't mean we should chop off the hand, shave the head of, or brand someone, or do anything like that, but a public announcement, and commentary about the actions should be done.
People should remember the internet has made the world very very small. And when you do crap, it gets told over and over, and comes home to roost.
