I've had this photoshoot concept, and have been hammering away at how to do it (solved) and who will be my female model (solved).  My problem was finding the right male model for it.

I had a list of about 6. I culled it back to 4.  Removed one more to make it a short list of 3.  Either of them would be great for what I want (want youthful, but not young, appearance, kind of not quite worldly, innocent).

Once the selection is down to one, it will be a matter of scheduling (her schedule, his schedule). Studio time is negotiable, as much of this could be done outdoors, with flash stands for extra or directed lighting.

Attended a photography workshop at Leighton Beach, called "Castaway Light". Was familiar with the subject matter, but I still came away with a few bits of info. Any day I learn something new is a day not wasted. :)

So, I took 141 photographs (discounting the ones I took for scenery, and of the fishing eagle I saw doing a fly by), and so far (haven't gone through them all yet) out of them I have 35 good images. That is a ration of 1 out of 4, which is much better than 1 out of 10.

It was a great photo shoot, but I was knackered. I took out contacts, brushed teeth, washed up, got into jammies, crawled into bed. Next thing I know, it's morning and Loki is purring at me at 7:30. Problem was, I woke up with a headache again. I did take some Panadiene to make sure it didn't progress into a migraine, but I also drank a few glasses of water. It's entirely possible, that although I did bring and drink water at the photo shoot, that I was dehydrated.

Here's where the screeching halt came in: although I am in better condition physically (the back/leg issue) it was difficult to traipse up and down on very soft beach sand. Lower back is screaming at me, and I'm listing slightly to port again. No, it's not as bad as it would have been (and was) last year, but still using wall to push me upright. Knowing then, what I know now, I still would have done it. :D

Oh, here's bonus photo of a juvenile sea eagle! Wish I had my 100-400 on at the time. Oh well, it's still a good image.

D was a great model, and was wonderful to direct. Spent the past few days going through all the photographs. Discounting test shots and duplicates ("Let's do that again, but move your arm about 5 degrees upwards", "Let's try that one with you looking to the left instead.") I ended up with 29 photographs out of 68.

The series, Modern Antiquity, came out even better than I had hoped. I sent full sized watermarked images to D to use in his portfolio, should he so choose to.

Earlier this week, Wing and I went to Dr Sketchy's Anti Art show, where we were allowed to photograph the burlesque dancer/model. I took about 100 photos. Discounting duplicates, there are about 20 that came out fan-freaking-tastic. Because of her costuming, I ended up making them look 'vintage'.

I emailed the dancer, by request, asked her if I could have her permission to post the photos on my commercial RedBubble site.

This was reply:

Hi Sandra

I would love to see them before posting them if thats possible? Also, if
you are to put them on redbubble to sell, am I able to use them to with
your permission and credit?

Thanks

I sent her copies, telling her she most certainly had my permission to use them, as long as I get photo credit , and this was her reply.

Wow Sandra

These are so beautiful!! Thanks so much. I cant wait to put them on my
facebook. Ill certainly credit you. Do you have a website that you want
me to mention?
