I had been wrangling (textually) with PetCover regarding Loki's lumpectomy. And after many of what I took to be (and were) condescending and patronizing replies, I let my fingers do the walking, and gave them a 1 star rating on Google Review, and with out rancor I typed up the time line of everything that happened.

Someone from the parent company replied, but I hadn't bothered to read it.

Next day, I got a phone call from M***. He told me this entire mess was because he has misread my email, thought I wanted it canceled. Not only is Loki's insurance reinstated (with handy dandy monthly installments instead of huge lump sum) but a huge hunk of change was rebated from his lumpectomy.

I am very satisfied with this outcome, but why the heck didn't they do this at the outset, instead of leaving me in tears over them canceling Loki's policy, then denying the claim? Well, we are all human and make mistakes, and I for one am grateful to M*** for getting this tangled mess straightened out. Thank you.

It's also a lesson learned for me.

Loki's pet insurance was getting ridiculous because, although he was healthy, he was getting old. So, when I got the renewal notice, I emailed PetCover, informing them I probably wasn't going to renew.

Now, Loki, who was still covered until 13th of August, already had a scheduled vet appointment, and had a lump removed a week before the end of his policy. Lump removed on the 6th of August, claim submitted on the same day, as I was standing there when it was sent.

Either someone left it sitting in the email folder for an extra week, or this is just how they handle it. They lied. They said I emailed to CANCEL the policy, so denied the claim. I did not. I told them I was probably not going renew as they have gotten over too expensive.

I have gotten nothing from them but patronizing and condescending emails.

I have two new pets. I will NOT be using PetCover again.

That's one

Today, renewal of Ziggy's pet insurance policy arrived. Soon now, Keito, Loki and Trance's will arrive. It's worth it.

Got a letter for Allianz insurance. Turns out that due to miscommunication we were charged too much or not rebated back enough of the excess we paid for Keito last year.

They sent us a check, with the amount we were overcharged, and 94 cents interest. :D

Just sent Ziggy's filled out claim form to the vet for them to put in the info and forward it to PetPlan.

Many people have said "Why not just set up a savings account for pet expenses?" Yes, in a perfect world, when just normal things like check ups and vaccinations are the norm, this would be a good solid plan.

HOWEVER, when you have a seriously ill cat (Keito for instance) a small savings account isn't going to help. Keito was in Murdoch Emergency Vet for 9 days. Average cost was $1000 a day, because he needed 24/7, treatment, supervision, surgery and IVs etc etc. (pet haters, beware, I will delete your comments and block your sorry asses, capice?) Because we had pet insurance 65% of the bill was covered.

Ziggy's current bill is no where near that much, but getting $120 again back is good.(yes, again, because she has had this allergy problem a few times this year. $180 per visit.)

Each cat is about $300 a year to cover. That is the price of one emergency vet visit, NOT counting treatment, surgery, medications. $1200. About 1/8th of what Keito's vet bill added up to be. So yeah, definitely well worth it and cost effective.

Here's hoping I get a reply.

One of our cats is currently in the Veterinary Hospital. The reason I am writing this isn't about coverage, as we have it, but the payment arrangements.

Now I know that too often veterinary practices get stiffed on what they are owed, and that there are unscrupulous people making false claims. however, I am not one of those.

I don't want to skip on necessary treatment my moggie needs, but the credit card is having fits.

Then after he comes home, I get to submit the claim, and then wait.

I have had great experience with your claims department, so please do not view this as complaint on that. But is there some way that PetPlan could come up with something like HBF or Medicare card? That we pay the gap, and PetPlan pays directly to the vet instead of this 4 step method of paying the vet, submitting the claim, waiting, and the you processing it?

Thank you

Wing got a phone call this morning (the morning after Alan was hurt) saying since Alan is now 25 (actually, no, not yet, he was born on the 19th in the US which would have made it April 20th here *chuckle*) so is being booted off our health insurance.

Have him signed up for a singles plan, now.

So much for you fewking advertisements.

Wing was in a smash up on the freeway. The car behind him was hit from behind, and then smashed into Wing's car.

Because the guy who did a hit and run ran, unless we can get the details of the person that hit the car than hit the the car behind Wing, we have to pay excess (aka nondeductible) of $350 & we lose the no claim bonus protection . Only option is contacting the police.

Police say they won't be able to get it for 2 months (Gee, color me so surprised! 2+ years after my son was run over, and jack shit has been forthcoming from the police). Cops say it the chances of finding the hit and run driver is pretty low. (Again, just so surprised here)

So, screw you RAC. You know the accident wasn't Wing's fault, or the guy behind him, but you are seeing fit to f**king penalize us because the asshole that did cause it decided to flee the scene.

Thanks for nothing.
