The elder care person I've been assigned. She is such a sweet lady. Seems without lose of energy, to vacuum, then mops, and then select an area I haven't been able to tackle. Sometimes, she exhausts me with her energy.

Don't get me wrong. Prior to her coming here, you didn't want to wipe your feet after you left, but it needs a good cleaning. Alan and Wing tidy, but they don't clean things. And by the time I manage to get one area cleared/cleaned, I feel as if I have been stretched on rack.

So, she's cleaning my house. I dusted off cobwebs from three room, including the walls and ceilings, the doorway, too.

I'm happy I have the help, but embarrassed I need it.

I had to move, lift, throw away some things in my office, and then vacuumed the floor, including taking the head off the vacuum and getting all the fur and smut off the cables, wires, and even the vents on the computer.

What does Loki do? Follows the vacuum head all over the room, even when I have it powered up. He the complained/meowed at me, looking around, all but saying "Put my stuff back.", which I did.

The second I sat down, Drax and Groo went dashing out of the room. Loki jumped up on the footstool demanding treats.

Yes, I am ruled by cats.

An addendum: I already hurt like hell from yesterdays' activities, so figured moving my chair, putting footstool on the sofa, lifting padded cat box to the top of the tower, and putting cat pad (formerly my seat cushion) in order to clean out my office of cat fur, dust and the stuff you get from regular foot traffic off the floor, wouldn't make me feel any worse.

I dare you to tell me doing household chores isn't a work out.

It's started with me making a clean spot. I vacuumed the dust and dirt (cat fur mostly) from my keyboard, mouse pad/armrest and monitors. Then I cleaned the rest of my desk.

It led to me vacuuming off the sofa, the cat tower/scratch post. And the floor, after I moved things. I put those things back where they belonged.

Then the bedroom. Stripping and remaking a queen sized bed had me panting for breath, and feeling quite physically tired by the time I was done.

Time for a cup of tea.

I'm just starting to get back into the game... The game of house cleaning. I don't think any of the floors have been vacuumed since mid-August, coincidentally when my shoulder was operated on. I have this receptacle on my bagless vacuum cleaner that collects fur, hair, sand, etc etc so the small filter/cannister doesn't get filled up.

Three times, I had to empty the receptacle out, and it's half filled again. That is only after my office, Wing 's office, master bedroom and the open area.

Yesterday, I selected a corner of the bedroom (my night stand area) went through what was on it, near it, by it, sorting and tossing a lot of things away, and putting things back where they belong. I even vacuumed off camera bags that had cat fur on them. Got everything squared away.. neat. Tidy.

Today, one of the cats hurked up one hair ball too many. I sighed, cleaned up the hairball, and looked at the rug. With all the stone/slate flooring, she chose to hurk up on the carpet. Another spot on the rug.

So, into Domestic Goddess Mode. Moved as much off the floor as I could without moving furniture. (desk chair isn't furniture, the sofa and bookcases are). Thoroughly vacuumed the carpet twice. Looked at it, and gave it another once over just to be sure.

Got out the carpet shampooer. It works great, but my biggest bugbear about it is it doesn't hold enough shampoo/water mixture and you have to empty the catch tank too often. So, 4 refills and empties later, the carpet is a new shade of color. Clean.

Wonder how long it will stay that way.

I invite them to the 3 hour workout I just had. And I'm still not done. Problem is, I'm wincing when I take a deep breath, or try to sit up or pull my posture up straight.

Bonus: I still have more to do; and it needs to be done. Can't put it off.

In a way. I've been going through areas of the house, and pretty much throwing 3/4s of what I find away. And I keep saying "If you can tell me what I threw away without looking, I'll admit we needed it.

it's not so much pack ratting, but putting things aside for later consideration/sorting. Tossed out were outdated warranty paperwork, old magazines, and hardware boxes.

Only things up there are my George W Bush Voodoo Doll, The Two Towers s/Gollum, an Enterprize, Scrabble Game and one box filled with software CDs/DVDs. No longer looks like a soon to be falling over Jenga game. I'll probably put the box with the software somewhere else, but at leasts

Because of the heat, I haven't been riding my bike. Yeah yeah, I know dedicated enthusiasts have no problem riding, but add asthma and extra weight, makes 31+ degree heat and my riding a bike mutually exclusive.

Was feeling a bit sedentary, so what I did was while my news programs were on, I stood by and did 30 minutes of 3/4 shimmies and Turkish shimmies. After the news was over, I got a drink of water, and attacked the rugs with the vacuum cleaner.

Now, my left leg feels like lead, not sore, just heavy, and slightly unresponsive. And tomorrow, I plan to do this again.

If it starts raining, it could be my fault. I just hung clothes outside to dry. Bets? :)

Took a large bag of clothes to The Red Cross in Willagee. I'm sure it will all be put to good use. I also picked up a small square cut vase that can hold more than one flower.

So, part one of the Scaled down "Bonfire of the Vanities" has been finished. Now, I have to get Wing to do his closet. I'm quite sure there are many items that could be tossed and not missed. He does tend to hang onto things until they're threadbare, although he has been good at tossing out somethings, mostly if there are body parts poking or falling out. *chuckle*
