aikidomayland and I headed to South Beach. Comet put in a very quick photographic appearance. Unfortunately, there was just enough ambient light that I couldn't capture the flaring tail. Such is life, but you can see the curve starting.

This will probably be the last photograph I get with my camera. McNaught was so dim after just a few minutes, that there wasn't enough light for it to even be focused on. It was great viewing with binoculars, though. Spent the better part of an hour just looking and watching, until it dimmed so much you couldn't see if it you looked directly at it (oh curses rods and cones!).

Totally clear skies... with the exception of one clump, right where the comet was. Beautiful sunset, but dammit, I wanted those clouds gone.

I managed to get a few faint (in comparison to my previous ones) shots, and with some enhancing (no, no painting) I managed to do this. The other problem we had was severe light pollution this time around. Some of the beach floods were on that weren't on on the 17th.

So I present....(click on the pictures to see them full sized)

Dimly showing through the clouds

Contrast enhancement, fade correction, despeckling (not necessarily in that order)

We will be going to South Beach tomorrow night. No headlights, and very little ambient light.

I have lots of pictures, but since it was so windy at the beach, many of them were blurry (didn't use flash, so slower shutter speed for brighter pictures). One of the few that wasn't blurry was the picture that was the place marker for the MOV file I recorded,
