Just when I thought it was safe to go into the water...  I woke up one morning with zero nerve pain. I had two glorious days of being able to walk as close to normal as normal can be.   Then, the cold, rainy, damp weather arrived. Now, I don't have nerve pain, but I do have arthritis. My knee sounds like broken glass and Rice Krispies grinding together.  Can we say ow?  I hate taking that first step after walking up in the morning. It's a gamble on how much it's going to hurt.  Let's just say results may vary.  I use a cane walking around, and that fekking knee brace if I'm going out and about to stop side to side movement.

We adopted to former stray kittens from Perth Rescue Angels. They had been dumped off behind a senior living center, and bless them, they made sure the little mites were fed, but they didn't have human socialization. They stayed 3 months with a foster carers, Jodi and David. With lots of patients, and creamy treats, they knocked most of the rough edges from the little moggies, Drax and Groot.  We've had them for 5 months, and they are becoming two of the most loveydovey furbabies.

Cuddling brothers

Onward.

Wing and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. Pretty good since someone he introduced me to said it wouldn't last a year. Technically they were right. It was a year and 20.  On an aside, they've been divorced a few years now.

Loki gave us a scare. Turn out he is asthmatic, a seasonal asthmatic. And like me, he uses an inhaler. But unlike me, we have to hold a small mask over his muzzle until he takes 10 breaths.  Have to say, he fought us about it, but no more bronchial coughing. Vets have all said for a 14 going on 15 yr old cat, he is in amazing condition. Ears, eyes, teeth, lungs, heart, body condition of a 10 yr old cat.

I'm still seeing a counselor. Oh yeah, 'Holiday Season' coming up. oh yay.

Guess that's about it for now.  Have to remember to use my weblogs more often.

Aikidomayland and I have been on a waiting list with two pedigree breeders. Not for a kitten. Kittens are cute, but they don't stay kittens long. But for an adult cat. One that needs to be re-homed due to losing it's family (illness, relocation, job loss) or taken from a home due to abuse, or a retired queen.

We got a phone call last night. There is a 2 yr old marbled Bengal queen who is retired. She has a sweet disposition, and likes being around other cats (or even a dog!). We are going to go see her this weekend, as we believe that cats pick their people, not the other way around. If all goes well, we go back home, and prepare the house for the new addition, and to let the boys get used to having a girl around the house.

There are many cats available at shelters who are between the ages of 1 to 6 yrs old, sweet lovable cats, that need to be re-homed. That is where we got our sweet Affy (well, he wasn't so sweet when we first got him. He had been abused by previous owners, and it took time, dedication and gentleness to turn him from a terrified cat, to a musher). Everyone I know who has adopted an older cat has not regretting it for a seond. :)

It was marvelous to watch a master barrista at work. Coffee was plentiful, varied and extremely yummy. I think I am going to adopt him (and all of his extended family). Yes, the coffee was that good. And pretty, yes?

I brought a 'coffee cake' still warm from the oven. Was yummy and descended upon.

Japster found out the down side of getting chocolate on his hands, as delicious_irony and his lady decided to clean the 'offending' chocolate off of his hands.
What friends are for? )

Went back to Cat Haven for a few reasons. To donate some catfood, and to pick up a new friend for Keito. We took Keito to our vet, and he was just so disconnected and apathetic... until he saw the Abyssinian we were considering adopting. Keito tried to hide in a 2 inch gab behind the counter. But it snapped him out of his stupor, and he finally ate. Vet suggested that we get him a younger companion, and we have. It's a crappy picture, because the little mite refused to stand still. Kitten pic spam )

He is being de-sexed tomorrow morning, and will be here tomorrow late afternoon. aikidomayland thinks that this means I am saying Affy is gone forever. Not true. Should Affy come ambling up the drive way, it will mean we have a bouncing houseful, and a very pissed off Affy. Hey, that will be what he gets for pulling a disappearing act.

Archery today was touch and go, due to threatening rain. I managed to get some great rounds in preparation for next weeks Bare bow shoot next Sunday. aikidomayland was most impressed by my groupings and consistency. Just hope I don't choke next Sunday.
