I have placed another order with USAFoods for ingredients to make more pumpkin pies. After this shipment, I am going to experiment with local pumpkin to see which one can be used as the pie filler.

Since I am in a cooking mood again, I made another batch of broccoli and parsnip soup. I got 'stick mixer' and this time it's blended to the texture and consistency I wanted the first time around. It is delicious. Maybe instead of 'Nawlins' style steaks, I will call aikidomayland and have him bring some fresh baked bread home. Yeah, that sounds perfect.

artisanat says he always uses butternuts (and his mother's recipe) when making pumpkin pie. He has offered to post said pie recipe, if you would be interested?

and on the off chance that you ever accidentally make too much filling for the pie crust, we have used the left overs to make a very nice icecream!

I have a recipe for pumpkin pie, but am always willing to try new recipes.

As for butternut, I have had equal amounts of people say don't use it as to use it.
