Odd question about "Veganism"
Sep. 14th, 2007 08:43 amIs breastfeeding a baby against the doctrine of Veganism? Isn't this taking the 'no animal products' a bit too far?
The reason I ask is that there have been 4 cases (death) of infants starving to death. One of them because the parents are Vegans and only fed soy milk and apple juice.
If an adult wants to become a vegan, that is all well and good. Their bodies are all growed up, and can tolerate all sorts of abuse. (Funnily enough, a show "What's Good For you" showed that the vegan's health check results were not all that flash hot. The total meat eater guy in the test had worse cholesterol levels than the vegan, but the vegan was anemic, had extremely low levels of B vitamin complexes, and low iron.)

Date: 2007-09-14 02:55 am (UTC)Sorry no, but if she has chosen to have a baby, it is her responsibility to put aside her wants and take care of the baby's needs. The problem is the mothers are NOT nursing their babies, or not getting enough nutrients in themselves to pass them along to the babies. Read the article.
Grown humans (aka adults) can tolerate Veganism. Growing infants cannot.
But they are ok with the deaths of millions of animals due to pollution and toxins created by making vinyl, or other synthetics? *boggle* Are they driving cars that use fossil fuels? Epochs old remains of plants and animals.
