Acer Clone and its' quirks
Sep. 9th, 2007 01:35 pmNo matter what configuration I use, I can't AcerClone to accept anything over 768 megs of ram (with 64 allocated to video) even though supposedly I am able to use up to 2 gigs memory. I have tried a single 1 gig chip, and I get core memory dumps. I try two 512s and it won't read one of them at all, even though they are same make and model and speed. It will only read one 512 in bank 1 and a 256 in bank 2. This is frustrating when I am working with Photoshop, or any of my graphics programs. They really chew up memory, and even having a 2 gig swap/virtual memory space on the hd isn't helping.
AcerBeast can read all the chips, without a problem. I am betting it's a bios blip with AcerClone. And it's one that, sooner or later, I will end up trading AcerClone in over.
