The opening 15 minutes of this move is gut wrenching. You see children armed with automatic weapons killing women and children in a village. Then the 'solders' chopping off the right hand of anyone who won't join them. This is not a movie for the faint hearted.

I think a lot these days about the number of people on this planet for whom that kind of thing is just day-to-day life as usual.

I watched it when it was in the cinema. When it got to about the middle of the movie, where the focus was on the child soldiers, a couple of people walked out. My friend and I were shocked because this is a movie which is obviously about the terrible happenings in Sierra Leone. When it came down to crunch time, people didn't want to see it. Why pay to watch a movie when you don't like the subject it's dealing with? It's beyond me.

I have seen too many people with the mentality "if I close my eyes, it will go away/not exist." Not surprised it happened when they got to see the truth of what is/was happening in Sierra Leone.
