Mar. 26th, 2004 08:44 amYesterday was one of those hecticbusymarvelouslypackedwithactivity days.
Had a meeting with the director of the Melville Rec center, about us being added to their 'official' program. We gave them a rundown on what we do, why it's different from cabaret classes. We scored brownie points by and because of: We have a registered Business Name, and an Australian Business Number, a non IPS affiliated domain (was surprised how much this makes a difference but it does) and have ongoing classes elsewhere, have done all what we have done on our own , and are members of the Perth Institute of Contemporary arts. That and we understand good business sense. Was a great meeting. :)
Picked up the dvd player, the safety fuse went, a power surge took it out, but sure beats frying the machine. It's damned difficult to get a true multi zoned DVD player in the Land of Roos.
Then off to Meegans' house for another run through with our program music, in almost full gear. The practice space was small, and Meegan kept looking at the time signature readout on the stereo, which doesn't help really. Even she said so. Still, we ran through it twice (after I threatened her that I would make her wear my glasses so she couldn't see the readout. As luck would have it, during a turn, one of my long beaded tassels managed to not only connect with one of hers, but actually go through a loop of yarn twice. Figure the odds. Got successfully untangled and practiced some more.
Back home, some domestic duties, then off to dance class. After warm up, we had willing 'drill and grill' victims. :) They actually enjoyed the session, and (as I told them) even though their technique wasn't perfect (because they were picking on themselves about that) not to worry, that comes with practice, that they DANCED. And played their zils at the same time! I think that is the part that shocked them, how the dance and zils melded without them even thinking about it. Ran through our dance program once again, and even the students noticed that it wasn't the same as it was the time we did it before. True improvisational dancing. Gotta love it.
Off to be a bit more domestic, and to get my dance gear inspected and prepped for tomorrow. :)

Date: 2004-03-25 06:18 pm (UTC)I've had it for nearly five years now, and have yet to find something it couldn't play - any region, any coding, burned, plain, dvd, vcd, whatever, it plays them all.
Can't sing its praises high enough. Might be worth looking into.
Thanx
Date: 2004-03-25 08:54 pm (UTC)I have had several people tell me their players are multi zoned, only to have them puke out. They are multi zone, but not TOTAL. The ones I have run across so far are Zone 2, 3, and 4, but do not play Zone 1.
I will keep that brand in mind, should ours permanently croak. :)
