Now the shit will probably hit the fan big time.
If any other country had invaded another, toppled it's government, arrested and incarcerated its' leader, tried, convicted and executed said leader, it would be called an invasion and murder. A coup at the very least.
Can you imagine if Russia invaded England?
Was Saddam and his regime evil vicious bastards? Oh hell yes, no argument there. But that didn't give Shrub the right to go in with guns blazing. No one invited him to do so. He was supposed to be after Bin Ladin in Afghanistan. Now the whole world is going to pay the price for his need for glory.
Crimes against humanity? How about cutting the budget to maintain and fix levees along the Mississippi river, and around New Orleans? How many people died because of that? How many are still suffering because Bush wants another 100 billion for his pet war project that is lining the pockets of Halliburton and other corporate fat cats with close ties to the Bush family and others currently in office, but can't spare enough money to provide rat free homes for the Katrina survivors? After going on two years?!?!?! How about short changing the vets that are coming back from Iraq? Brushing them and their problems aside?
Kerhisting hell, what a mess. They have turned Saddam into a martyr. Much better would have been to turn him over to the Hague, get tried and convicted there and then the ignominy end dying a weak, powerless tottering old man from a life time of incarceration.

Date: 2006-12-31 04:34 pm (UTC)It's easy to say the people that lived/live in NOLA should have had enough time, but I would like to see anyone average/poor person stripped of everything they owned recover in 2 years after getting nothing but the shit end of the stick from the git go.
