Gotta love the tender attentions of cops these days. Student asked to leave library because he couldn't produce his student ID. He was on his way (this is according to not only witnesses but VIDEO) out when one cop grabbed him, and when he said to let go, another grabbed him. He repeatedly say let go. They tasered. Then they tasered him over and over because he could NOT stand up after being repeatedly tasered.

I want some heads to roll. And I want to hug all those students recording it with the phones, and the ones standing up to those sadistic bastards.

EDIT: The students that were standing up to the cops, demanding their badge numbers and THEIR id, demanding they stop torturing the boy again, were threatened with also being tasered.

Warning, the vid clip is over 6 minutes long, and it ain't pretty.

Oh yeah, and the talking heads for the cops are admitting the student was 'stunned' multiple times. Newsflash assholes, STUNNED people do NOT writhe and scream in pain. Nor are electroshocked people able to get up after being 'stunned'.

You know, it reminds me eerily of the way abusers say, "She made me do it. She hurt my fist with her face."

Omg that's horrific! I can't believe they tried to get him to stand afterwards, and kept tasering him because he couldn't. They are total morons and I hope that they get the worst kind of punishment possible. Forgetting your student ID is not a big thing. He was probably leaving to go and get it... *shakes fist*

It gets even 'better'. He was of middle eastern appearance. Don't think for a second that didn't have something to do with their abusing him.

Oh yeah I'm sure that had nothing to do with it...

I'm glad we don't have police/security like that at the universities here. I can just imagine them picking on half the people in my course alone for wearing head scarfs or something equally ridiculous.

Bush and his regime did a great job of making everyone afraid of anyone with a hint of anything other Anglo. Nice huh?

There is just a shade, an outside chance, of there being a reason to taser somebody who goes limp in the grasp of the police. Maybe if the person was armed and wouldn't give up a weapon.

But if you have three strong police officers and one limp student... tasering is sure not a way to make somebody get up! Christ! What cruel idiots! I hope they didn't have pets as kids.

And any cop knows, if a protester goes limp, you just drag him/her away. You do NOT taser them over and over.

WTF?
CAMPUS cops have tasers?

Don't tell them that here in KS.

You see, therein lies the problem. Campus cops are not real cops, just glorified security, or the guys who couldn't get hired by the real Police.

I wish I could disagree with you because I know a campus cop and he's actually under the auspices of the city police department, but I've had frequent run-ins with him when I've discussed race or gender issues in my journal, and I can't help thinking he wouldn't have impressed me in this situation either. In fact I bet if I went to his journal I'd see him defending these asshats. Sooo...

And his department isn't armed--I don't know if they even have tasers. But he's agitating for them to be allowed to carry weapons. Joy. I understand where he's coming from but too many cops abuse them already.

looking at those videos

the students nearby were not happy. I think the cops nearly incited an... 'unfortunate incident'.

the man was HEADING FOR THE DOOR, he was complying with the order to leave.

Thats like three incidents of LA police brutality caught on digital and put up on youtube in what? a week?

Good going on the PR there, guys.

EVERYONE: KEEP THOSE CELL PHONES AT THE READY

I thought that too. You could see the anger of the crowd of students rising as it just. Kept. Happening. I think the only thing that kept it from flashing into a full-scale riot was that the cops didn't taser anyone else, though it looked like they came close.

That was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.
Why is this not all over the news internationally?

It's getting there.

And yes, this is extremely disturbing. Abuse of authority, torture, all the things Bush has done to engender.

Scarier thing about that: the rest of the students came >.< this close to rioting. Kent State, anyone? (http://www.spectacle.org/595/kent.html)

And since when is asking a police/peace officer for his badge/ID is punishable with threats of being tasered?

I went to the youtube site and read some of the comments (there are over 100 and it was too much to take in all at once in the am hour) but therr are a scary amount of suporters of the police in there. Can anyone say police state? Big Brother? 1984?
Scary, considering after Bush bought the election from Gore he was re-elected!!!(???) Sheeple indeed...
I hope it al resolves in a way that it is all seen for the bause that it is and gets recognised not as acceptable but as abhorent.

Red State mentality abounds. We do have to thank Bush for his "Fear all Non Anglos" mentality. Turns out that this student was 'randomly' selected. He was the only one of middle eastern appearance.

Random, my ass.

These men should not only be removed from duty, but prosecuted. Convicted or not, they should then be barred from any position in law enforcement, ever. Not even 7-11 security guards. They obviously cannot control their emotions and cannot be trusted with any kind of weapon.
