Gotta love the tender attentions of cops these days. Student asked to leave library because he couldn't produce his student ID. He was on his way (this is according to not only witnesses but VIDEO) out when one cop grabbed him, and when he said to let go, another grabbed him. He repeatedly say let go. They tasered. Then they tasered him over and over because he could NOT stand up after being repeatedly tasered.
I want some heads to roll. And I want to hug all those students recording it with the phones, and the ones standing up to those sadistic bastards.
EDIT: The students that were standing up to the cops, demanding their badge numbers and THEIR id, demanding they stop torturing the boy again, were threatened with also being tasered.
Warning, the vid clip is over 6 minutes long, and it ain't pretty.
Oh yeah, and the talking heads for the cops are admitting the student was 'stunned' multiple times. Newsflash assholes, STUNNED people do NOT writhe and scream in pain. Nor are electroshocked people able to get up after being 'stunned'.

Date: 2006-11-17 04:22 am (UTC)I'm glad we don't have police/security like that at the universities here. I can just imagine them picking on half the people in my course alone for wearing head scarfs or something equally ridiculous.

Date: 2006-11-17 12:55 am (UTC)But if you have three strong police officers and one limp student... tasering is sure not a way to make somebody get up! Christ! What cruel idiots! I hope they didn't have pets as kids.

Date: 2006-11-17 07:21 pm (UTC)CAMPUS cops have tasers?
Don't tell them that here in KS.
You see, therein lies the problem. Campus cops are not real cops, just glorified security, or the guys who couldn't get hired by the real Police.

looking at those videos
Date: 2006-11-17 03:49 am (UTC)the man was HEADING FOR THE DOOR, he was complying with the order to leave.
Thats like three incidents of LA police brutality caught on digital and put up on youtube in what? a week?
Good going on the PR there, guys.
EVERYONE: KEEP THOSE CELL PHONES AT THE READY
Re: looking at those videos
Date: 2006-11-17 07:02 am (UTC)I thought that too. You could see the anger of the crowd of students rising as it just. Kept. Happening. I think the only thing that kept it from flashing into a full-scale riot was that the cops didn't taser anyone else, though it looked like they came close.

Date: 2006-11-17 11:20 pm (UTC)It's getting there.
And yes, this is extremely disturbing. Abuse of authority, torture, all the things Bush has done to engender.
Scarier thing about that: the rest of the students came >.< this close to rioting. Kent State, anyone? (http://www.spectacle.org/595/kent.html)
And since when is asking a police/peace officer for his badge/ID is punishable with threats of being tasered?

Date: 2006-11-17 11:36 pm (UTC)Scary, considering after Bush bought the election from Gore he was re-elected!!!(???) Sheeple indeed...
