Email from Rachel, my daughter in law

Hi all! Little Joseph Mason Crader (a.k.a. Joey) entered this world at 6:26am on September 24, 2006. He weighs in at 5lbs. 15oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. Right now he is Manchester Hospital hooked up to an oxygen machine along with other miscellaneous things. Since he was a month early his little lungs are not fully developed. As of a few minutes ago the hospital was starting to ween him off the oxygen machine. Hopefully he will be able to breath on his own soon. We're taking it one step at a time.

There were some pictures attached, but I couldn't bring myself to look at them, as I still remember my nephew and sister like that before they died. Call me a coward, but I can't look at them.

So, any well wishing and prayers, no matter your beliefs would be appreciated.

I hope he'll be OK. A month early isn't too bad by modern standard.

I'm guessing that isn't Manchester in the UK. If it was, he may be being cared for by my auntie Mavis as she works in the premature baby unit there.

Sending lots of hopeful wishes and good thoughts you way. I have spent a short time working in SCBU and these babies are strong fighters! The human being is NO where near as fragile as it appears!!

I hope the times comes soon when you can properly enjoy being a (insert appropriate noun), and in leui of then...congratulations :)
