To our inestimable hostess, I was getting cracks also in the full fat cream cheese cakes - luckily, I was making chocolate ones (in the day when I made that my "signature" contrib to potlucks), which also required a topping of sour cream - which neatly took care of the cracks!
Let me clear that up a bit. When I use lowfat philly, I tend to sweeten it with pureed fruit, and lessen the sugar amount. That is what causes cracks. The first two I made here, with regular, were works of art, but aikidomayland was worried about how fattening it was. For some odd reason, the idea of just having smaller slices escaped him. *chuckle*
