Using National Guard for police

A friend of mine, shadoutcarver, and I were discussing this extremely wrong idea of Bush using troops for policing. The reason this is not only wrong, but should be scaring the bejeezus out of any thinking people is what happened the last time this was done. Go check Kent State University Shootings for a quick lesson in US history. I am old enough to remember seeing these kids being shot and slaughtered for nothing more than protesting against war.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

hell, a movie was even made out of it. starred a tom cruise getting the bejeezus shot out of him, which was a useful bonus.

i remember a certain BSG Commander saying that the armed forces (not police) protect their citizens from enemies. When they start being police, the people have a tendency to become the enemy.

Not even protesting - Scheuer and Schroeder were walking between clsses, Schroeder was in ROTC; they were nearly 400 feet away from the Guard.
