The price of gas and an observance

If the New Royalty (aka politicians) had to pay for their own gas for their cars, rather than have taxpayers dollars to do the deed, I honestly believe the Oil Shortage Business would have fewer adherents to their policies of stopping production when surplus is up, and suddenly increasing production when OPEC goes to $60+ a barrel for crude.

Typing of the New Royalty... maybe the citizens should remind them that there was once a revolution to overthrow royalty. And the people are getting mightily pissed again.

the price of gas should have been this high years ago.

after the shortage in the mid-70s people briefly bought gas efficient cars, then went back to buying bigger and bigger and bigger gas hogs until now there are lane wide pieces of roadbling that get gallons per mile. Idiots.

And personally, I find nothing stupider than someone driving this huge honkin' SUV with a 'cattle catcher'/'roo bar' through a city of skyscrapers. I remember when pecker contests used to be with snowbanks, and small fast sports cars.
