Wow, just wow
Jan. 1st, 2004 04:06 pmJust got back from seeing Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Wow, f*cking wow!
Man oh man was that a great flick. There was a point I had to lean over and threaten the husband that if he didn't stop his continuous commentary, I would clap my hand over his mouth and 'remember dear, I wear rings'. He was most smitten with how Shelob was done. Said she gave him creeps, it was so well done.
I am very glad that the movie wasn't 'sanitised' for mediocre consumption. I read the book, saw the animated version, and jolly well knew Frodo's finger get chomped off by Gollum. It was kept in the movie. (YAY!) Denethor going mad and attempting to turn Faramir into a pyre, (loved how Gandalf spanked him. That wizard can really handle a staff and sword quite well) and then his jumping off the precipice was also kept in. (Again YAY! for not sanitising it)
Not going to say anymore, just in case someone wants to go see it in the future.
A word of passed along advice from a darned good friend of mine: do NOT drink anything before going into the cinema. And only start sipping on something half way through it if you really get thirsty! :)
