Ok, now [livejournal.com profile] _meegan_  and I find this sort of funny.

Things certain people were putting us down for, insulting us about, and slandering us over, they are now doing the exact same things we are/were doing.

Imitation still being the sincerest form of flattery? Or a symptom of never having an original thought of their own?

I've seen that throughout the years, mostly from the sidelines. Seems to be rather common in the teen years, where there's excuses. Later on there does seem to be a carry over of "what you're doing is kewl, but among my crowd you're not, so I'll put you down now and later on pretend it's my own idea/discovery"

You also see it among the neophobes, where the newness makes it scary/wrong; after it catches on enough to be trendy then it becomes acceptable or even desirable. Herd instinct of a sort.

The more I think about it, the more it does seem like High School mentality. I guess they never outgrew it.

As for doing new things, I hope I never get so stale that I end up stagnating.
