After a long discussion with the surgeon, then discussing it with both [livejournal.com profile] aikidomayland and Alan, we have decided the best course of action is surgical correction. I don't have a 'prolapsed' disc, but a displaced/slipped one, jutting out, putting pressure on the nerve. There is some calcification, which is why I am having the sharp radiating pain in my leg. The bright side of this is that since this is only the first problem I have had, it augers well for successful outcome. The disc is also too 'thin' between the vertebrae, and Dr N will be replacing the lost tissue with a plastic 'strut' to prevent any future back pain. Wish me lucks, peoples!

Luck! *reads rest of flist* I take it you have laptop? Yay, at least you can be entertained whilst waiting. I'm sure you'll pull through with flying colours.

But boo for PT...mine made a similiarly disastrous mistake, which means that what should have been a 3 month recooperation period is now in its seventh month, so I'm glad yours was picked up on and is being corrected!

I'll be thinking of you!

Thanx dear

Yeah, brought laptop for DVD viewing, and had [livejournal.com profile] aikidomayland call ISP for Australia wide dialup number. Can keep up on email (200+ in one day on two accounts. True, a lot of it was spam)

St. Michaels Wing, room G04 ;)

Can I suggest to all and sundry that Friday or Saturday would be good days to visit and she would love to have visitors. Thursday Anysia will need to just rest and recover. She will be gorked out in lala land that day and a "tad" uncomfortable as a result of the surgery.

Please call St John of God Hospital in Murdoch for visiting times. If you are able Any would love some company on those days.

My mother had a disk removed like that. I'm sure all will go fine.

Prolapsed / dislocated spine discs are evil. My sister has had a few cases and she said the pain was worse than giving birth to her two children. I really hope you'll feel better soon.
