Kansas school board redefines science

The 6-4 vote was a victory for "intelligent design" advocates who helped draft the standards. Intelligent design holds that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power.

By a 6 to 4 vote, the heavily Republican school board voted to have Intelligent Design as an approved new public school science standard. All I can say is thank goodness none of my kids are stuck in Kansas. There is proof of evolution, where is the proof of I.D.? Just because a group of the loudest says it's so, doesn't make it real. But they can force it to be taught as a real science.  What is it with the GOP and science? Friggin' backwater (no matter where they live), ignornant, phobic fuqheads.

Next they'll be just giving out the book of Genesis for a text reference on this... Think I'm kidding???
I think all our recent progress is being undone...it's all getting flushed down the toilet.

No, I don't think you are kidding. Ever since Dubya and his fundies have been infiltrating (I still don't believe he won the elections) the US has been going to hell in a handbasket.

This educational step backwards is just another symptom of the Bush disease.

Very true.Nothing surprises me with this administration. Things are so out of balence here.I only hope he doen't try to stage some sort of disaster just before the elections on 2008,so he can try to pull an fdr to stay for a third term and do away with the statue of limitations. That has been a "out there" theory of mine for ome time now...
