My 7 port powered USB hub decided to die. The USB cable plug detatched from the circuit board. (insert rude words here) Got soldering iron and some core and tried to fix it. Didn't work. Of course it's just out of warranty exchange date.:p

Do you appreciate how much engineering effort goes into designing it that way?

I'm a little surprised that the resolder didn't fix it. Surface mount or through hole? Might check for hairline cracks in the traces nearby, flow solder over them to attempt a fix.

I was surprised the soldering didn't work, too. I will get my lighted magnifying glass and check it for cracks. *sigh*

My previous iBook died a few months after the extended warranty program (that would have covered the way it failed) ended.
