anysiaLast nights student salon was exemplary. ALL of our students attended. Usually some say yes, then never show up, but all of them did. Even one, that due to heavy academic and moving schedule, had been MIA for a few months. Wing wasn't feeling all that great, has a froggy throat, but no fever. Due to his wonderful filming (hopeful here) I will give him a bit of cozening.
I went a bit snap happy with the camera during the freedance music at the tail end of the evening, when our students, under their own volition, got up and danced! Rockingham and Spearwood students, who had never danced together before, but you couldn't tell by how well they were dancing. Luda, our 'baby' (she just turned 15) even led! Some of our beginners just wanted to watch to see what the entire dancing looked like, which was fine with us. We do not pressure beginners or any dancer to perform if they don't want to.
We had brought the new dance gear bags we had made up for our students, but turns out we weren't the only ones bearing gifts. Students brought us gifts, for being great teachers and Christmas combined. I had a hard time not getting all weepy, as the elaborate makeup would have run, and I would have looked like Alice Cooper or Marilyn Manson, depending on your generation.
