It started as the typical weekly pillage.  I got asked by someone if I was a tribal dancer, and I said yes. She asked for more information and I supplied it, then she told me she just started with the old group.  I didn't poach, or attempt to.  That isn't my modus operandi.  I leave those shenanagins to the ones that feel they need to.

Also, was fed up with the Matshita dvd drive's antics.  It's a good region 4 player, but with all movies I brought here from the US I need one to be dual region.  I kept getting shuffled/shuttled back and forth between Acer and Panasonic on who could/should decide to give me a firmware update to allow unlimited switching from one region to another.  And it will not work with certain programs/software that allow multi region playing.  So, I got an external CD-RW/DVD rom, slimline version and now all is well. I think it is stupid that a portable computer ends up locked to one region only. It is a machine that can travel from country to country, so keeping it locked to one region is exceptionally stupid or poor planning.

Turns out we have fans now.  That is just so cool.  Black Swan Groupies?  (laughing)

The 150 coins I ordered to make a new coinbra arrived. After cleaning them, and then inspection them for broken loops I decided to divvy them up for sewing, so I counted them. 18 short and 3 with broken loops.  I can take the broken loops, they tend to be well worn, but 18 short?  Emailed the vender, and he will send me another 50 lot.  I have done much business with him before and this goof had never happened before.  He did great by me and I would heartily endorse him as a tribal source.

For those purposes, I use VLC, which can play any region dvd's on any dvd player. There are several tools for that purpose, some are free, and it doesn't require firmware upgrades. Of course, you could always rip the dvd's, make them regionfree and burn them..

The problem is that it's Matshita DVD RAM, and will not play any DVD if the region isn't set, and it only has 5 changes before it gets locked. Its the only drive that isn't supported by many of the region/css freeing programs. I have run many Region Freeing software and they all puke when it comes to the Matshita UJ820s. Even traded messages with the makers of DVD Region+CSS Free. They acknowledge that their (and other software) don't support these DVD Rams, and won't because of the way the hardware works. Here below is the exact message I received:

As you see, our software can not support your DVD drive. But you can watch and copy CSS-encrypted DVD movies when the drive region and disc region is matched on these DVD drives.

Since Matshita drives refuse to read DVD data when disc region is mis-matched with drive region, so there is no way to decrypt DVD, and no program can work.

Any questions in future, please feel free to contact us.

Ellen Zhang

Since I brought a bunch of DVDs with me and get some sent to me from family in the US having a locked to one region DVD player was ridiculous. So, there sits a nice external CDRW/DVD player, that has no problem sporting the region free software.
