Dec. 2nd, 2004 02:10 pmI have been hearing and reading about the big 3 US networks (ABC, NBC and CBS) refusing to run ads that show gays being welcomed to attend church services. Isn't that just so special? And the excuses are even better!
"A spokesperson at ABC told CNN that "we do not generally accept paid advertising that espouses a particular religious doctrine." WTF??!!! How many people have NOT seen advertisements for the Mormons on TV? Anyone.... anyone? (insert the lonely sound of crickets in an empty theater) That has got to be the lamest, most cowardly assed excuse I have heard so far, but hey... there's MORE!!!
If you buy this shit now, I will include this precious quote: An NBC spokeswoman "It went against our long-standing policy of not accepting ads that deal with issues of public controversy,". Since WHEN??!!
IMO, this sort of bullshit flows directly from on High,and I sure as hell do NOT mean Heaven. Bush and his fellow homophobes have made it open season on discriminatory and selfserving behavior. Bush shoved his fear of gays down everyones throat, and it had nothing to do with 'family values' or 'morals'. He played the fear of the entire fucking cosmos to everyone and like sheep, they baaa-ed and got in line.
Now networks are blatantly kissing his ass, and following his suit.
I just hope that the Big 3 refuse to run LDS and other religious programs/ads. THEN I might believe their candyassed excuses.
