Oh good grief, Anne, shut the hell up!
Sep. 24th, 2004 09:43 amI just finished reading Anne Rices' tirade concering readers opinions of her last book of "The Vampire Chronicles". As much as I know that writers have to have a goodly amount of ego and self esteem, this woman is over the top.
I think she has an overinflated idea of her worth and influence (a la King Canute ordering the tide to NOT come in). So instead of just letting a few readers posting their opinion wash off her back, she decides to jump into the fray, in a public forum on Amazon.com fergossakes, and start slinging insults and putdowns, thinly veiled in psuedo-artistic 'Dickensean' prose.(makes gagging noises) Polysyllabic putdowns does not show how wonderful a writer someone is, just how vitriolic.
I read Queen of the Damned, and Interview with a Vampire years ago. Neither one rocked my world or kept me riveted. They were ok, nothing to write home about, nothing to rant about either. I don't see what all the brouhaha is about her books. Truly, I don't.
