Ok, I'm confused

I went to get the mail. I spotted bright yellow and black tape on a slim parcel that contained a DVD. "Opened by Australia Post for inspection by Quarantine". Huh? What the hell did they expect to find in it? A dvd made of dirt?

The dvd case was opened, (store seal has been cut) and whoever inspected it didn't seat the disc back in the case. I spotted a few dings, and if the dvd doesn't play, I am going to contact them for the damage.

Maybe they're checking for illegal porn, or drugs, or anything else someone may try and smuggle by mail in a DVD case.

Be interesting to know how you go about claiming damage from them - do they have a process for it?

I would understand if it was Customs that had opened it looking for drugs or other contraband, but AQIS? And if they are going to manhandled a defenseless DVD, they can at least put it back in the case properly.

Yes, there is a procedure to claim for damages.
