Took Acerchild (Travelmate) to the tech, and had it bench tested, memory stress test, and hard drive tested too.

Good news/Bad News

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the hard drive.

There is still an issue with memory access.

Prognosis: the computer to kick the bucket any second, or last for a few more years. Am in the process of setting up it's replacement.

Will also be donating AcerBeast (Extensa 2000) to Computer Angels.

Is that the same travelmate I have? (2300 I think?) I added some ram to mine for a total of 512mb, but haven't used it much lately because the screen has a few dead pixels. If the machines are the same, are you interested in selling yours for parts, assuming the bits that work are the ones I may need for mine?

Travelmate 4230. It's been working just fine now, might have to do with the extra gig of memory in it now too. Currently typing on it now.

NOpe, it had a Core memory dump again, and the BSOD. Moving many of the data files over to external hd, and am getting new computer set up. Wing is gonna be peeved, but dammit, I have lost irreplacable data before, and I am NOT gonna have that happen again.
