We can dance if we want to
May. 22nd, 2004 09:11 amNew class started last night. It was great. There is something about this dance that appeals to women of all ages and sizes, and it shows in their enthusiasm and concentration (Yes Cheryl, I know you weren't frowning now, you were just concentrating). Tori was thrilled that she was able to start classes, as she attended the workshop we held at the Parmelia Hilton in Perth earlier this year.
Two of the dancers, who know us and have taken Tribal Basics with us already, have Turkish/Egyptian class experience. Next week, they are going to behind the others, so they stop STARING AT THEMSELVES IN THE FRIGGIN MIRROR. Since the mirror is on our far right, and the instructor, whether it be Meegan or myself, is on the left, this is causing timing difficulties. Also, shifting them to the back will stop blocking the view of the newer students, who need to see what we are doing.
Also, will have some words with one of them about her running commentary in class. Cutting up in our relaxed practice sessions is one thing, but wisecracking and telling the new beginner students its ok to do things HER way is not. It was also at the end of the class, so she might have been a bit tired, so I will not drop on her like ton of bricks. That is someone elses style, not ours.
All in all, it was a great class. 7 new students, two repeaters.
