I don't care that Palin's daughter is pregnant. I don't care who the father is. It has no bearing on Palin's qualifications or lack thereof to be Veep.
Oh yeah, I'm sticking with Troopergate as the main lie that should be focused on, since that actually involves her job.
It annoys me more that she's been using her kids in such a way that it makes her look better, since THAT is pretty sick. You'd think she'd want her son going to college, y'know?
It has no bearing on her qualifications, no, not exactly, but I can't help but wonder who really decided to keep the baby and that the young couple (and, at 17, Bristol is in High School, presumably the father isn't much older) should marry. Especially right now, when the VP having a teenage daughter having a baby out of wedlock would not play well to the religious right, nor would her daughter exercising her right to choose not to have it. There has to be one hell of a lot of pressure on that girl to make her mother look ok for the vice-presidency.
I am fairly certain the mom, who is rabidly anti-choice, and is in favor of an abstinence only sex ed must have had a helluva dilemma. I am only surprised she didn't take one of her shotguns and force a wedding.
See, this is where the original rumor comes into play. Say that Trig really IS Bristol's son. That means she's gotten pregnant TWICE in short order. That means she's not a dumb kid who just happened to get pregnant; she's been doing it on purpose. That would mean that one or both sets of parents didn't approve the match, so forcing a wedding would mean that they lose the argument anyway. Sarah Palin REALLY couldn't fake a second pregnancy; that would be even MORE suspicious. And so the partial truth had to come out.
I really think most internet rumors are absolute trash and that this really isn't the public's business, but Sarah Palin made the choice for this to all come out into the open when she accepted the VP offer from McCain. If she didn't know that Troopergate and Babygate were going to get plastered all over the media, then she's not qualified for the role anyway, regardless of her policies, simply because she doesn't know what it REALLY takes to hold a public office in this day and age. Whether the public should be made aware of her private life or not, it doesn't matter. The point is that this sort of digging is going to happen whether it's morally correct or not. Sarah Palin was not prepared for any of it and it was irresponsible for her to put herself in the spotlight while she has so much going on on both the professional and private front.
Bad judgement calls all around, IMO, and a severe lack of common sense.
