Annoyed by audio constantly being out of sync when I used Sansa Media Converter, I set out to find something to fix this problem. I emailed Sansa (chirping crickets). I checked the Sansa forums, and the AnythingButIpod forums. Nada.

On a whim, I typed "RockBox Sansa e200 series v2" into Google. My inner nerd jumped for joy when I saw that RockBox has indeed come out with its bootloader for the e280v2. I installed it. I ran my avis through WinFF, copied them over, and voila! they played and the audio was in perfect sync.

Rockbox install did say I might not be able to use my Audible audio books. And that was right. Even though the directory is there, the RB shell doesn't 'see' them.

That led to another search. Something to umm convince my Audible audio books to play on RockBoxed player. Success! Converting a few over as I type.

My inner nerd is much pleased.

My e280 showed up, and it turns out it's v1 not v2, so not compatible for Audible audio books. It, and also the Sansa View, has the same problem with excruciatingly slow scanning. Luckily for me, someone who liked the hardware and had the ability made installable software with a great GUI for the e2xx v1 series that cured it. Press forward for a few seconds, and it scans slowly ahead. Keep pressing and it zips right along. No more getting almost to the end of a 14 hr mp3 ebook, only instead of turning the volume up, accidentally going back to the beginning of the sound file.

Comparatively speaking.

Had my hydrotherapy session today. That was typical, push until I could no more, come home, remove the stink of chlorine. Take pictures of goofy cats.

[livejournal.com profile] _meegan_ came over, and we went to the shops to pick up my trial pair of contacts, and some more Nurofen PLUS (the plus is codeine) for me. Stopped by BlockBuster and rented "Monster In Law", got some lunch and came back. Both [livejournal.com profile] _meegan_ and I were in stitches laughing at the movie, as we could relate to the bride to be's dilemma, and battle with the soon to be mother in law.

She also let me borrow "Hellboy". Watching that now.

Have also been shopping around for a waterproof MP3 player, and after careful price comparisons, and checking specs, I managed to get a good price on a decent 1 gig player. No more Donna Summer version of " McArthur Park", or elevator music rendition of "When I'm 64" while at hydrotherapy.
