I think the main reason I like Dexter, besides the cat and mouse game he plays with people, is his running voice over commentary. Here you have a sociopath who channels his urge to kill by killing murderers, rapists, child molesters who have gotten away with their crimes. He is trying to maintain an illusion of being normal, and his comments while doing this are hilarious.

Imagine if you will, a sane socially functional sociopath working for the Miami police department. He goes after the killers that slip through the cracks on technicalities. Methodical, and trained by his adoptive father how to make sure the ones he goes after are truly guilty, and how to cover his tracks.
Now there is a serial killer playing tag with him.
Someone needs to slap that LT. She never listens to her people, and is too much of an ass kisser to be in that job.
