I was getting ready for bed. While removing leggings, I lost balance and started to fall. I put right hand on too soft of a bed (at least it slowed my downward momentum) and I landed on my (wait for it) left knee, elbow and shoulder.
I swear, everything from my eyebrows down hurts. I am in category "Bruised, not broken"
I really need a bathtub or a hot tub. But that isn't going of happen.

It's no secret that I have been recovering from a total knee replacement (chromium cobalt, no less!) had a few setbacks during rehab (my fault for overdoing it) and one helluva set back when an L Plater t-boned us on the passenger side of the car (three guesses which side I was sitting on) No injuries needing hospitalizing, but did have MRI on head and neck, and xray of left knee. No fractures..yay. Bruised and sore, boo hiss. Mild concussion means on and off headaches.

I would say today I am almost back to where I was prior to the car accident. Left knee is still sore, but manageable with just panadol and ibuprofen combined. Right knee, the chromium knee, is back to just feeling 'thick and heavy' (I've been told this is normal)

The forced inactivity has been a bit wearing. The not sleeping is really a downer. Being tired all the time.. not fun. (Here it is, 10am and I'm already yawning.)

My stationary bike and I are getting reacquainted since the car accident. Have to take it slowly, 10 mins, and work that to twice a day, then three times a day again.

I see Dr N for the compartment syndrome testing next Monday. Not looking forward to that, though.

Woke up this morning, still coughing, but nothing like it's been the past week. I think i am finally over the worst of whatever this is. Wing called BUDGET and requested that they don't drown the inside of the car with air freshener (I swear, last week, it smelled as if a Chanel #5 bomb went off inside the car) as 'my wife is asthmatic and she became very ill. They apologized and the car doesn't smell like a bordello during a heatwave this time.

RAC called me, and it seems the firm, yet polite, feedback about their penalizing us for the jerk who caused the accident doing a runner worked.

Feedback as follows )

Oh, the car wasn't totaled, but it's going to take 3 to 4 weeks for it to be fixed. Oh well.

Wing says he feels fine, just a little stiff.

I have told him he needs to get an exam. Many others have told him needs to get checked out just in case. He refuses.

I told him "If it were me, you wouldn't let me slide with 'Oh, I feel fine'. You wouldn't allow your mother.... *DING* lightbulb"

Will wait until he goes pick up hire car and then give An a call.

Am I evil? You're darned tootin' I am!

Wing gave me the full dish on what happened.

It started down pouring, and like the very careful driver he is, he (and the traffic in front of him) slowed down. The car behind him also slowed down. Two cars behind him the guy either didn't slow down or slammed on his brakes and careened into the car behind Wing, causing that car to spin, slamming into the back of Wing's car, spinning his into car into the ones in front of him.

Then the moron who started the chain reaction drove off like a bat out of hell.

Tow truck driver said that our car is very badly damaged, and could very well end up being a write off.

Right now, Wing is starting to feel a bit sore. I have a feeling tomorrow, he will be very stiff and sore. But it could have so very much worse. Cars can be replaced. Wing can't be.

Bad news,Wing was in car accident. Good news, he is fine. Bad news, car is not drivable. Bad new, once again we will miss SupaNovaExpo again this year.

Ok, universe, could you stop now? First when it was found out I could go, I caught a nasty cold. I start feeling much better today, now a car accident?

Day started off with Loki being a pest to Aikidomayland , to the point of biting him on the foot because Loki just had to go outside!

I got up, put my contacts in. Right one, no problem. Left one.. somehow without noticing, I had torn the lens. I put it in, and instant OMIGODMYEYEITCHES, 10 times worse than if an eyelash fell in. Managed to get it out by virtue of using normal saline and flushing it and the torn bit out. Eye looked like holiday ornament: Red, white, green.

Later on this morning: I noticed the pool cover was flipped back a bit (I told Alan that just tucking it under wouldn't do the trick, and thought he had listened and tied it down tight). Since it was raining and windy, I went out to go put it back and tie it down. About three steps from my objective my foot slid on the ground cover, and down I went..hard. I partially landed on/in the pool, thereby dumping all the leaf filled rain water that had accumulated on it into the pool, and partially on the bricks in a rather wrenching twist. I got up, fixed the pool cover (nothing short of cannon fire wakes Alan up) removed cartridge from water filter, rinsed it out. Replaced it, and bled out the air, all the while getting thoroughly soaked.

I hobbled into the house. Headed to my room to shuck off soggy jeans, and other clothes, grabbed fluffy terrycloth bathrobe.

Now that it's been a few hours, everything from my shoulders down hurts. Ahhh crap.

And went to the accident site, and took photographs. It hasn't rained, and there are 5 irregular stains on the road where Alan had been laid out. Kind of gave me a micro-freak out. More on that in a bit.

Alan is feeling much better. He is a bit 'hobbling around the house', but that's ok. If he needs pain meds, he asks and gets. None of that silly machismo crap Aikidomayland does (aka the suffering in not so much silence), and will take something if the pain is bad.

Back to the photographs

I will have to take another photograph of where he was coming down the hill, as some loose hair blew in front of the camera lens. But the others clearly show there is no obstruction of view, and you can see clearly up to the top of the hill. Yes, I know the accident was at night time, but the street lights there make it almost as bright as daytime there. And there is the clearly marked designated bike lane. As luck would have it, I even got photo of a bike rider coming down it! Too pic from inside our car, as Aikidomayland looked out, and you can still see up to the top of the hill.

Un-son, Robin came by to check on the 'stop sign'. Was nice visit. He said he can understand my 'hovering' right now.

I know this is irrational, and make no pretense otherwise, but I feel guilty that my son was hurt, that I wasn't there to prevent it, and can't 'make it all better'. And yes, I am very grateful that he is going to be ok, but for now, I will make sure he is ok, and all is taken care of for him until he feels back to normal, and hover... just a bit.

How the heck Loki could have fallen from a roof, or even gotten up on one.

Here's how. )

It was a long drop for such a small body.
