anysiaPoor Meegan. She told me that the way her family plots, schemes and maniuplates made it easy for her to deal with the situation last year, for the instigators behavior was just like her family. Now I know why she busted out laughing at them when they tried to use their variety of 'court politics' on her concerning me.
This is the situation: An aunt, whom she has seen maybe a handful of times in her entire life, is coming to visit, as luck would have it, on her eldest sons' 13th birthday. Her son doesn't know this woman, and Meegan really doesn't have even a nodding aquaintance with this woman. The plans have been laid in for soon to be teenagers birthday for months, this visit from aunt is a rather sudden event.
Meegans sister and her mother are trying to manipulate her to ditch her sons' day and do what they want, which is join them for this estranged aunts' visit. (Wow, talk about art imitating life. Only those who know what happened last year know what I am referring to). Daryl and Meegan have both told her relatives that it's her sons' birthday, and he hasn't decided what he wants to do yet. Then the Elder started "Ohhh, he doesn't want to visit his gran on his birthday..(insert false solicitude and sadness here. Rather like someone else we know in that age bracket). Then her sister started in on her with similar crap. Didn't work.
So, her sister tried it again this week, with "Oh, it's ok if you want to have his birthday here, we don't mind." (Shades of "It's ok if you keep shopping with her on Thursdays, we don't mind." from C. I kid you not, that is an exact quote.) and again, Meegan told her "No, I have guests coming here. And I barely know this woman, my son doesn't know who the heck she is, and I am not ruining plans already made, and if you don't like it, I'm sorry. I can see here the day after."
No wonder Meegan saw through their games and backbiting so easily..her family has innured her to it! And has sharpened her defenses against it.
