Mattel to sue porn website using Barbie's name
* Mattel says China Babie * damages their good name
The lawsuit said Global China Networks used a domain name containing the word "barbie" in a "bad faith attempt to profit from Mattel's Barbie trademarks" and had damaged Mattel's good name.

Seriously folks, the only ones who might get confused is a child. It's a porn site, an adult site. And I really don't think a child will be going into adult shops, or online, to buy/watch a movie with "China Barbie" starring in it.

Also, Barbie is nickname for Barbara, so are they going to slap all women named Barbara with an injunction? Or how about Aussie BBQs aka 'barbie'? Going to slap a gag order on the entire country?

There was a strip club on Second Life* that went by the name 'Barbie Club' and they got slapped with a 'cease and desist'. Not being able to afford a possible lawsuit, they had to change their name.

It was the 'damages their good name' I found ridiculous. Using child labor, traumatising generations of girls with a freakish ideal of beauty.... yeah, that's good PR.
