anysia: (WTF??!!)

Had first session with new physio, Leslie. Discovered some interesting things. My side to side rotation is beyond expectations, as is my ability to bend backwards, and to bend side to side. Bending to touch the floor in front of me, my back stiffens. Could be that my left foot is still 'unsure' and weak, so I unconsciously tense up.

But it is official. I am 'weird'. Found out that the muscles from ribs to hip and from lumbar spine to hip are too tight. (Or as Leslie put it "Your ribs are locked and not moving even when you are breathing." To the degree that the 11th and 12 th rib on the right side are being pulled down towards the ishium (hip bone), to the point of pain and stiffness. Manipulative therapy followed. Laid face down on the table. It actually hurt to breath in that position. Entire right side felt as if it was being crushed. Pressing and deep tissue massage ensued. In about 3 minutes, breathing wasn't painful (the massage was, but a good kind, if'n you get my drift). Worked on it for at least 10 minutes. Then down to the knot of muscle in my hip (piriformis) which I described in a matter of fact way to Leslie, hurts all the time. I quietly yelped a few times, and he tried, but the knot was still there at the end of our session. It did help.

The weird part is this: Leslie said he would have expected the current issues I am having to be on the left side of my back and hip, the area affected by the damaged nerve fibers, not on the unaffected right side.

Affy is still MIA. I have lodged a LOST CAT notice with the RSPCA, Cat Haven, and the local animal pound. Have a flyer printed up, and need to make photo copies and do the rounds in the neighborhood. Keito is still pining, and not letting me sleep. This intermittent sleeping because of him being anxious is starting to tell on me. I have been getting conflicting advice from vets. Get Keito a companion to distract him. Let him pine and mourn, because it could cause a problem. Duh, I already have a problem with him not eating, chewing on things, moping etc etc. Oy. Add me not sleeping, and it's a bigger problem.

Cats sometimes have a problem with wet weather. Particularly if they are outside and it comes down heavy. They quite literally lose their way in an olfactory sense and they cant hear anything familiar with the rain. In older cats, their vision isn't good so nothing looks familiar, so they just stray off.

I have had cats from 2 blocks away camp the night at my house because they are lost. In some cases I've been able to contact the owner (collar), but most often they wander off on their own, and you never know what happens with them.

He disappeared in clear weather. It wasn't raining when he disappeared, nor for 3 days after he got out. We are still looking and hoping.
