Photographic experimentation
Mar. 29th, 2007 09:58 pmAfter careful examination of certain photographs, I found out why they were getting tossed for 'graininess'. Turns out it was the finish on the antique chest the objects were sitting on. I draped some black velvet over the chest and TA DA no more graininess.
Antique green jade locust and red jade rabbit on black velvet.

Have been experimenting with smokey and clear quartz crystal spheres outside. I had tried to display them on the the black velvet outside, so they wouldn't pick up too much reflections (like me holding the camera taking the picture). The problem I had was the spheres are clear... very clear, and acted like a focus for the sunlight and started burned a hole in the velvet!
With a little ummm creative ideas, I came up with these:
Smokey quartz sphere held in the frond of a century plant. I still had to get this shot done quickly. The sun was focused enough to put a small burn mark on the plant.

Smokey quartz sphere on sand.

Three spheres bedded in sand.

I also had a small visitor: Snake-eyed Skink
