The Recording industries have gotten a bit too big for their breeches. They are going to criminalize concert goers recording crappy quality video with their cell phones. These video clips are typically iffy in sound and picture, pixelated and scratchy, and are for memory purposes, rather like a photograph. The clips posted on YouTube will more than likely encourage people to buy concert tickets, or CDs.

Does the term "Shooting oneself in the foot" mean anything to them?

Right church, wrong pew. It's the promoters, and it's the Aussie gov't that is going to criminalise it.

As one kid said, if they do that, he will stop going to live concerts, and he wasn't the only one.

I don't see the point. I thought they could already restrict photography at the venue if they wished.
