Health Minister Tony Abbot has said the vaccine for the Papilloma virus, that causes cervical cancer, isn't 'cost effective'. Gee, I am sure those 400 or so women in Australia that die of cervical cancer are thrilled to hear that.
I honestly believe if it had been a vaccine to prevent testicular cancer, it would have been on the pharmaceutical subsidy scheme already

Date: 2006-11-10 10:49 am (UTC)Not to mention the ethical issue of preventing an avoidable death. Perhaps, if Mr Abbot resembles recent appointees here, if the woman point out that dead women don't get pregnant, a "save the fetuses" campaign could be started to insure funding.
