I saw the scare mongering on the news, different stations, and different websources, about how flights were in danger of exploding batteries. Ya know, the media should really check their sources before screaming "The Sky is falling!".

This is the real story about it below:

Dell recalls 4.1 million batteries

Yes, a HANDFUL (6 out of 4.1 million) of Dell laptop batteries have overheated and caused property damage, and no, I repeat no injuries or damage to airplanes.

So, instead of just reporting the Dell recall, the talking heads take this opportunity to inflate the danger to any and all battery operated items will cause planes to fall.

Now I know TV and News sources survive on ratings and viewing audience numbers, but they really need to do so responsibly. People doing this sort of 'reporting' should be held accountable.

I just have this to say :

Actually, I agree - but remember the original "the sky is falling", it gets attention.

Alot of the staff at Murdoch uni were worried about this .

Not the I.T staff though , mainly cos alot the staff buy crap computers and the chances of their Dell computer's blowing up from something stupid they did rather than the battery is alot higher .

Not that I think that all the staff at Murdoch are stupid ,just some of the lecturers , students and people that have tenure there.

the only possible solution
