Ay! there's a paint brush that's a couple of counties wide...

I wonder if the purveyance of this sort of crap is aiming toward eventually turning into pressure to join a single "patriotic" party, you know, as proof that we're not terrorists, or in cahoots, or even sympathy,...

Crazy(just waiting for, "You! We saw you eating a piece of baklava! Are you sure of your loyalties?")Soph

As a browsers of conspiracy sites I've seen this general thing pop up on the right-wing sort-of-Bircher sights for years. A lot of the stuff like the Virginia booklet is more the result of leaders (or 'leaders') thinking "we've got to do something" combined with staff that ranges from clueless through brown-nosing to anal-retentive; all of whom seem to draw on Hollywood movies for their information on terrorism.

It's fun to look at these sorts of things :

Terrorists have the following goals...
Create an atmosphere of anxiety amoungst the public. (umm - "Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof — the smoking gun — that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud" GWB)

Undermine confidence in the government (sort of the GOP platform for decades, given recent polls this Administration seems to have been successful)

Influence government or social policy (Jack Abramoff, National Center for Public Policy Research, the Heritage Foundation {from their home page "A conservative think tank that publishes research on domestic, economic, foreign and defense policy."}, Project for the New American Century)

So patriotic, loyal US citizens should be reporting the RNC as a terrorist cell as the very least, not to mention that frequent repeated gathering at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
