Preparations and anticipation
Dec. 20th, 2003 10:46 amDoesn't seem to matter how many times I have done this, I always get a bit jazzed up when getting ready for an upcoming performance. Right now,I have a selection of costume elements on wooden drying rack (tassel belts included) over some NagChampa, some sandalwood, frankinsence and Myhrr.
Check coin bra to make sure I have no 'loose change', even though I am not sure if it will be part of the costume tonight.
Do I have time to make another choli with new pattern? (lost weight, and with a bit pinning and measuring have adjusted my existing pattern (which is on a fibrous transparent fabric) to not have all the excess fabric or bagginess).. yes, I do have the time, but do I want to... No, not today.
Check skirts for any problems with hems, drawstring, any split seams... Nope, all good to go there.
Pantaloons... smoke all three pairs of em, different colors, then decide later which ones that will be worn.
Hip shawls... three on the rack, also different colors. Again, decide later.
Dance shoes, PACK THEM WITHOUT QUESTION! Might not need them, but if I do I want near at hand. Have had one experience when I did need them, but didn't have them, and do NOT want to go through that again.
Music, going to bring some of the older stuff, as we haven't really had time to learn the new music I got just a few days ago. Old tried and true will be good tonight.
Jewelry.. no worry there at all! Might go minimalist this time around. I have seen a few examples of umm over indulging with jewelry, and it looks rather like a 5 yr old that has raided grannies' jewelry box. There is a demarcation between Opulent, and overboard, and I have seen it on enough occasions to know how to avoid it.
Zils, must clean them! The humidity around here is awful, and the undersides of the zils get tarnished and a bit sticky because of this. Must not forget!
Make up, good to go.
Small container of safety pins.. oh yeah, a must pack. :)
Home check list complete.
I think I will leave the braids down again. I like the look, and since I have hair that is about a yard long, might as well show it off. :)
