After performance, when I got home and 'despackled', I answered email, cleaned a bird cage. Handled bird a bit so it won't revert to wild. OH yeah, forgot to mention it. Saturday, after dance class, Robin (my Un-son) came over asking if I still had that extra cage. I did, and cleaned it out to bring over to his house. Turns out a very young cockatiel had flown into their yard and landed on clothesline. Alan, my son, had it on his finger, and was petting it. Of course it decided to go on the roof, so they got a ladder and got it back on Alans' hand. I told him to cup his hand over its back so he couldn't unfurl the wings again, and we got it into the cage. Jean said "Merry Christmas". Oh joy.

So, I examined the little thing: about 16 weeks old, and very underfed. Had probably been outside for a few days now, just barely getting by. Definitely tame. And extremely hungry. Got it some proper feed and seed, and lots of water. He's dong well now.  Have checked around the neighborhood to see if anyone has lost one. Nope. No telling hwo far this one has strayed.

Back to home stuff: raided the shed and dragged out the mulcher and attacked a pile of branches. Made another bucket of mulch, and spread it in the rose patch again. Now my arms are tired.

Yeah, he will survive. I used to raise em from hatchlings, including incubating an egg on the pilot light of an old gas stove many years ago.:) He has put on some weight already.:)
